All of this info today will be fair game for a quiz and/or test, so PLEASE stay focused for the 15 minutes this will take! Close laptop, put phones AWAY, and watch and listen carefully. I am starting with this and sharing this because as I was reading these first few chapters, I didn't understand WHY these raids were happening.  Why--when they had already been forced to these shantytowns--were citizens further terrorized by nighttime raids? Why were the pass books so important? I found some of these answers in these short clips!

Is abortion legal in China?
Abortion in China is legal and is a government service available on request for women except in cases of sex-selective abortion. In addition to virtually universal access to contraception, abortion is a way for China to contain its population in accordance with its one-child policy.
How many abortions are performed in China?

New data published by China's National Health and Family Planning Commission indicates that there are more than 13 million abortions conducted in the country every year, highlighting the huge reliance on the procedure as it seeks to restrain population growth.
