Just a reminder to sit upright and sit so that I can see your face, hands and book please. Tuesday 11/24 (Zoom for Attendance) READ to fulfill Reading Requirement of 60 minutes. PLEASE Update your 2nd Quarter Reading Log in Google Doc! Wednesday 11/25--1:30 Dismissal! ZOOM if you still need to READ! Have you fulfilled Reading Requirement of 60 minutes on camera? Happy Thanksgiving! Week of November 16-20--(Assignments also in Google Classroom) Monday 11/16 View together: How Teachers Take Attendance in Zoom 1. Did you share your Reading Log with me in Google Drive? If not, check your email! 2. Since your grade in Independent Reading is based on READING every day, and since I can no longer physically see you reading in front of me, I will require that AT LEAST 2 days per week for 45 minutes each day or 3 days per week for 30 minutes each day (for a total of 90 minutes of reading), you are in the Zoom with me with your camera pointed from the side or over your shoulder so I can see your face and your hands and your book (see the photos in Google Classroom that demonstrate how your camera must be set up to capture your reading). I need to know that you are reading with NO distractions (like your cell phone). That 90 minutes of weekly reading (you spend almost twice that much in a normal week) will become a regular part of your grade as long as we are online. Your camera MUST be positioned as it is in the photos in Google Classroom Online Learning Resources so that I can see your face/head, your hands, and your book. We will NOT do a Magazine Monday during this online time, so you may do your 90 minutes of reading ANY of the 5 days of the week--even Friday if you don't get in 90 min before that. Tuesday 11/17 Read on Zoom Assignment: Post to QuickTopic: Connections (available on Tuesday) Wednesday 11/18 Read on Zoom Thursday 11/19 Check your email if you did NOT set up your online Reading Log! Read on Zoom Remember you don't HAVE to Zoom in to class tomorrow, but to prove your attendance, you MUST post journal ON FRIDAY before 3:30. It will not be activated until Friday before school. If you journal is not posted, you will be counted absent for class. Friday 11/20 Read on Zoom if necessary Check your email if you did NOT set up your online Reading Log! Edible Book Report Locate a recipe for a food dish that's mentioned in a recently read book or for a food dish that's representative of the book's setting. Type up and share the recipe with class along with an explanation of how the dish relates to the book you read. Hold a food tasting day. (Non-Fiction) Biography Poster 4.(Non-Fiction) Pizza Box Biography Week of November 9-13--(Assignments also in Google Classroom) Monday 11/9 Find this Biographical Non-Fiction Handout in your folder. If you are absent, you can copy and paste this into a Google Doc and share with me. Search for online articles about the REAL person or people in your non-fiction book to complete this activity, which will be due TOMORROW. I went to your QuickTopic posts to find those of you who are reading your non-fiction book right now. For example... Dillon is reading about a legendary high school football coach. I Googled his "name + article" and after looking at many sites, I found this great article appropriate for this assignment. Lizzy is reading a book called Obsessed, about a girl with OCD. I googled that "girl's name + article" and found this great article appropriate for this assignment. ASK me for help if you can't find an appropriate article. The idea is to supplement your knowledge and understanding of a main character in your non-fiction book.
